About TEEFA
In 2008, a dedicated Minnesota Horse Council (MHC) member noticed struggling horse owners in our community and took action. He set up a simple donation jar at his business, collecting $400 by early 2009. He then partnered with the MHC to responsibly distribute the funds—and the Temporary Emergency Equine Feed Assistance (TEEFA) program was born.
How TEEFA Works Today
TEEFA provides direct, confidential support to horse owners facing temporary financial hardship. We pay feed or hay vendors directly—no cash changes hands with owners. Powered By Community through:
- Individual donations
- Fundraisers from 4-H, FFA, breed clubs, and equine groups
- Annual support from the Minnesota Horse Council (since 2014)
Every dollar keeps horses fed and families together during tough times.
